Why small-studio RPGs often beat the big ones on mobile

Why small-studio RPGs often beat the big ones on mobile

Big mobile RPGs tend to arrive stuffed with energy timers, endless menus and systems designed to nudge you toward spending. Playing them can feel like a second job you didn't apply for.

Smaller studios, without the same pressure, often make cleaner games. They can't afford to waste your time, so they cut the fluff and focus on what's actually fun — the combat, the characters, the story beats.

I've played indie RPGs that fit a full satisfying arc into ten hours and never once asked me to wait for a meter to refill. That respect for your time is worth more than any flashy cinematic.

So when you're browsing, don't skip the game with the modest screenshots. Read a few sentences of the reviews. The best mobile RPG in your library might be one you've never heard of.
